Peter Diem

An Expressionist painter from Amsterdam, Peter's work is know world-wide. His years in the US brought us such gems as "Flying Cows Over New York".

à la carte will be opening a show featuring many of his works in the summer of 2005 during our "Expressionist Summer".

Vibrant colors and an astonishingly sensuous flow of lines are the distinctly unique characteristics of his images. Dutch artist Peter Diem frequently draws his inspiration from his direct surroundings; his varied international expeditions continuously provide new, curious, and poignant facets within his work.

During an extended residency in the United States and several excursions to Russia, his fame was initiated through numerous exhibitions of his "Flying Cows" series. Lately, however, his art has been influenced by recent journeys to Jamaica and the African nation of Mali, as well as a lifelong interest in outer space. His explorations within these foreign cultures and customs are copiously impressed upon the canvas. The depth and divergence of the cosmos is vividly depicted in invigorating new forms. These border crossings have become a part of his biography, his quality, and are selectively featured within this collection.
